Surveying Arts and Crafts Properties.

We at Tayross Associates Chartered Surveyors recently carried out a detailed structural building survey to an Artegan Arts and Crafts period house in a conservation area in the Pinner Wood Estate.

Artegan houses were primarily built in the 1930s pre-war period. We have a lot of experience with surveying these type of properties.

The biggest concern we find buyers have now are structural issues because these houses are built on London highly shrinkable clay and are normally close to large trees, with an aged drainage system which can draw roots to the shallow foundations causing settlement problems.

We at Tayross Associates will normally carry out a line and level survey on the main perimeter walls and floors to the property. This gives a good indication of any structural distortion that may have occurred to the property.
