Carl Boyle – Agreed Surveyor for Party Wall Matters
posted 23rd February 2026
Appointing an Agreed Surveyor is often the most practical and cost-effective way to deal with a party wall matter.
I act as an Agreed Surveyor under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996, helping both Building Owners and Adjoining Owners move matters forward fairly, efficiently, and without unnecessary conflict.
An Agreed Surveyor does not act for one side or the other. The role is to act impartially, protect both owners, and produce a clear and workable Party Wall Award.
I also sit on disciplinary panels for the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (FPWS) in London. That experience supports the professional standards I bring to every appointment, particularly when it comes to fairness, independence, and sound judgement.
Why choose an Agreed Surveyor?
For the Building Owner:
• Lower cost than appointing two surveyors
• Faster communication and fewer delays
• A more efficient process to keep the project moving
For the Adjoining Owner:
• Confidence that the surveyor must act impartially
• Proper protection and a clear professional process
• Helps keep neighbourly relations on an even keel
• Reduces the risk of unnecessary friction between neighbours
