Growing Our Presence in the City: A Site Visit on Lime Street

Growing Our Presence in the City: A Site Visit on Lime Street | Tayross Associates Chartered Building Surveyors | Party Wall Rates London | Party Wall Surveyor West London | Building/Structural RICS Survey London

Earlier this week, the Tayross team attended a site visit on Lime Street in the City of London, called in by the Project Quantity Surveyor on a substantial hotel development. The purpose of the meeting was to walk the PQS and client through our quotation and, more importantly, the strategy behind it.

Efficiency From Day One
Our approach on schemes of this scale is always the same: identify where time and cost can be saved before the programme starts, not after problems emerge. On Lime Street, that meant setting out clearly how we would sequence our involvement so the works could get off to a strong start, both economically and against the programme.

Scaffolding and Crane Licences
Given the site's tight City footprint, scaffolding licences and crane licences were a key part of the discussion. Getting these right early, and understanding how they interact with the wider programme, can be the difference between a smooth start on site and weeks of avoidable delay. We talked the client through how we would manage this process alongside the party wall and construction consultancy elements of our appointment.

The client's response to our quotation and strategy was very favourable, and we look forward to progressing this instruction.

More Work in the City
Lime Street is the latest in a growing number of instructions we are picking up in Central London. We put this down to our reputation for efficiency, clear strategic thinking, and a genuinely collaborative approach with PQSs, developers and the wider design team. It is encouraging to see that reputation translating into more City-based work, and we look forward to sharing more as these projects progress.
